Joseph E. Deldeo Sr., 42 of Millsboro, was a left rear seat passenger in the 2003 Saturn Ion and was not properly restrained during the crash. He was initially transported to Beebe Healthcare before being flown to Christiana Medical Center where he died Feb. 8, 2016.

The 21-year-old female of Millsboro has since been released from the hospital.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and additional charges may be forthcoming.

The initial investigation determined that the crash occurred Sunday, January 17, 2016, at approximately 12:14 a.m., as Dillon Davis, 23, of Millsboro, was operating a 2003 Saturn Ion and was traveling in a northbound direction on Long Neck Road while approaching Bay Road, Millsboro. Davis then lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to round a curve. The Saturn then left the roadway and struck a tree where it came to rest.

Deldeo, as well as a 21-year-old female passenger in Davis’ car, were both removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Medical Center. They were then both flown by Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 2) to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where they are being treated for serious injuries.

Dillon Davis, who was not injured in the crash, was transported to Troop 7 where a DUI investigation ensued. Davis was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, two counts of Vehicular Assault 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana (3 grams), and three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $6501.00 secured bail.

Maryland State Police Impaired Driving Effort

While Maryland troopers were locking up drunk drivers on Super Bowl weekend, TFC John Dize Jr. wrecked while driving drunk – goodbye career

(PIKESVILLE, MD) — As hard as police officers across the nation work to take DUI drivers off the road before they kill someone, there is always some knucklehead cop who believes he or she has the right to drive intoxicated. The knucklehead cop in this story is Tfc. John Dize Jr. of the Princess Anne Barrack in Somerset County.

The success of the Maryland State Police effort to remove drunks and drugged drivers from highways was great over the Super Bowl weekend but somewhat muted by the idea that one of their own was acting in a remarkably selfish and criminal way that could have ended with the death of a Marylander at the hands of a state trooper.

Cops shouldn’t rob banks or drive drunk.

The public should remember that when a cop is arrested for DUI, it means another law enforcement officer is doing the job right.

As some Super Bowl fans were on the offense, many troopers across the state and the S.P.I.D.R.E DUI team were on the defense this past weekend making more than 50 DUI arrests, according to Cpl. DaVaughn Parker of the State Police.

The Maryland State Police conducted traffic enforcement initiatives throughout the state during this Super Bowl weekend. Troopers made numerous traffic stops focused on impaired or distracted drivers, aggressive and speeding motorists, as well as those who were not properly belted in the vehicle.

During the three-day enforcement initiative more than 4,700 vehicles were stopped by troopers across the state. Preliminary statistics revealed more than 2,900 traffic citations were issued along with more than 2,900 warnings.  Also, 51 motorists were arrested for drunk driving.

The S.P.I.D.R.E DUI team was deployed to Baltimore County for Operation 40/40, a multi-jurisdictional traffic enforcement initiative. Collaborating with 11 law enforcement agencies, efforts were focused on Route 40 from the Baltimore City line to the Delaware state line. As a result of the collaborated effort, 30 motorists were arrested for drunk driving.

Just before 11:00 p.m. on February 6th, troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Hudson Corner Road and Landon Store Road, in Marion, Md. Troopers found a pickup that reportedly drove off the road into a field.

The driver of the vehicle was found to be an off-duty state trooper, identified as Trooper First Class John Dize Jr., assigned to the Princess Anne Barrack.  Trooper First Class Dize sustained injuries and was transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Due to the possibility of alcohol being a contributing circumstance to the cause of the crash, an immediate investigation was conducted.

Trooper First Class Dize was subsequently charged with failing to obey designated lane directions and driving under the influence. Trooper First Class Dize was immediately suspended with pay.

In an ongoing effort to educate motorists, additional traffic initiatives will continue throughout the year to reduce injuries and fatalities on Maryland roads. Maryland State Police will continue these initiatives in support of the Maryland Highway Safety Office’s ‘Move Toward Zero Deaths’ campaign.

Nicholas A. Iarocci, Esq. Ashtabula County Prosecuting Attorney Ohio

JEFFERSON, OHIO — Ashtabula County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas A. Iarocci reports that on February 12, 2016, Chad Wyatt Campbell was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison as a result of being convicted of two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, each of which is a felony of the second degree, and one count of operating a Vehicle under the Influence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Campbell also had his driver’s license revoked for the balance of his lifetime.

This case stems from the tragic crash which occurred on June 21, 2015 on State Road in Plymouth Township when Campbell, who was driving substantially in excess of the posted speed limit at an estimated speed of 96 MPH shortly before impact and who was significantly under the influence of alcohol at the time, failed to yield to a motorcycle turning left.

The accident resulted in the deaths of Joseph Patrick Lorelli and Tracy L. Chapman, occupants of the motorcycle. Campbell, who had no prior criminal or traffic record prior to this incident, faced a minimum of four years and a maximum of sixteen years in prison as a result of the convictions.

“The unfortunate and tragic deaths of Mr. Lorelli and Ms. Chapman represent two of the six traffic fatalities that occurred in Ashtabula County in 2015”, according to Nicholas A. Iarocci, Ashtabula County Prosecuting Attorney. “Three families have been devastated by Campbell’s exercise of poor judgment, and he will now have 12 years in prison to think about this catastrophe and the lives that were lost as a result of his actions every minute of every day.”

The State of Ohio was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Robert C. Jeffries and the Defendant was represented by David per Due in this proceeding held before Judge Gary L. Yost who handed down the sentence.

Iarocci commended the Ohio State Highway Patrol for what he said was responsible for the thorough and outstanding investigation that resulted in the subject convictions and sentence.

Coward Campbell fled the scene and left his victims to die on the roadway

From Star-Beacon

A preliminary investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol said both vehicles were traveling north on State Road near Garrison Road in Plymouth Township when the crash occurred. The motorcycle was about to turn onto Garrison Road when Campbell’s vehicle slammed into it from behind. Lorelli and Chapman were thrown from the bike and the unmanned motorcycle continued off of the left side of the road and landed in a ditch.

Keith Stewart of the Ashtabula County Coroner’s office said Sunday that the truck rolled numerous times off the road after striking the motorcycle, but Campbell was not seriously injured.

Campbell reportedly fled the scene on foot after the accident and was later apprehended by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  …MORE

Valentin Oswaldo Sis Sis Orange County Fla FHP fatal crash Orange Blossom Trail

From WFTV 9 Orlando

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was killed Monday morning in a four-vehicle hit-and-run crash on Orange Blossom Trail at Americana Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the vehicle that left the scene, Guatemalan national Valentin Oswaldo Sis Sis, 30, was found nearby and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment, troopers said.

DEAD: Brett Adams was in a 2001 Mercury stopped behind another vehicle in the center lane of northbound Orange Blossom Trail at Americana Boulevard about 3:10 a.m. when the crash happened, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes.

He admitted leaving the scene and has never had a license in the seven years he’s lived in the U.S., investigators said.

Sis Sis was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

The accident happened at about 3:17 a.m. and blocked the northbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail. MORE

From Pasadena Star News

PASADENA >> A drunken driver ran from the scene of an early-morning crash on the 134 Freeway in Pasadena that left a Monrovia man dead, authorities said.

Eduardo Macias, 24, of Pasadena was found and arrested about two hours after the 1 a.m. crash on the eastbound 134 Freeway, just west of Orange Grove Boulevard and the 210 Freeway, California Highway Patrol officials said in a written statement.

Killed was a 41-year-old Monrovia man, officials said. His identity was not released Sunday.

Officials responded to reports of a multi-vehicle wreck and found a crash involving three vehicles, described as a 1998 Toyota, a 1992 Toyota and a 2016 Honda, according to the CHP.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver of the 1992 Toyota dead at the scene, officials said. Two 18-year-old women inside the Honda were treated for injuries not believed to be serious.

The driver of the 1998 Toyota — later identified as Macias — fled from the scene on foot, according to the CHP statement.

CHP officers found and arrested Macias about two hours later, CHP Officer Monica Posada said.

After examination at a hospital, Macias was expected to be booked for felony drunken driving, she said. Additional charges, such as hit-and-run, may be sought by prosecutors later as well. ...MORE

Paramedics arriving at the scene pronounced 41-year-old Christopher Richard Nelson dead at the scene. The coroner’s office didn’t have his city of residence, but the CHP reported he was from Monrovia and was driving a 1992 Toyota.

SALISBURY, MD. – The Maryland State Police report the DUI and speeding arrest of Ray Perdue, a chicken flock family member, near the town made famous by the tender chicken peddler.  The respected businessman and famous grandfather of one of the city’s newest DUI drivers was a tough man with a lead foot who killed one person while speeding. Now a family offspring is primed to pick up where the late chicken huckster left off.

Forbes sets the worth of the Perdue Family at over $2 billion making a driver for Ray Perdue an easy way to assure that he doesn’t kill one of their customers or himself while driving drunk.

Raymond Elwood Perdue, of 3851 Algonquin Trail in Snow Hill, Md., was arrested on Feb. 20, 2016, at 8:29 pm by Maryland State Trooper J. Meier while he was operating a 2010 Mercury at double the posted speed limit of 35 mph on Riverside Drive at South Blvd.  The speeding fine is $290.  Perdue likely won’t have to take out a loan from his bank to pay the fine.

A more agreeable fine of $90 awaits Perdue’s conviction on changing lanes when unsafe; a ticket awarded him on the same date and place. Running a red light was another item on the menu for the heir to the chicken fortune and now the heir to his well-known predecessor in the driving infraction record books, Frank Perdue.

Frank Perdue died in 2005 at the age of 84 after building his egg business into one of America’s largest poultry processers – Perdue Farms.  Perdue turned the company over to his son, Jim Perdue, in 1991, and who still runs the family-owned firm.

The late chicken chief garnered 37 separate traffic violations which The Washington Post reported resulted in 34 convictions, with most of them for speeding.

Like his famous family member, Ray Perdue was charged with speeding and ran a red light but unlike Frank Perdue, he has yet to kill someone.

Perdue Farms and the Perdue family are fundraisers and donors for most every public event, charity, and educational entity on the Eastern Shore while providing jobs for thousands in Delmarva and tens of thousands around the world.

On Aug. 16, 1989, The Post reported the following:

“(Frank) Perdue was also driving a rented car from New York in October 1974 when he had the accident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old Philadelphia chemist. The 1974 fatal car crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which occurred while Perdue was on probation for motor vehicle offenses committed in his home state of Maryland, resulted in his arrest on Dec. 19, 1974, on an involuntary manslaughter charge. Conviction on such a charge is automatic grounds for losing driving privileges.

The charge was dismissed in May 1975, however, after prosecutors failed to present the case to a grand jury in time for trial. Details of the legal wrangling that followed the traffic accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike were made public for the first time recently in Southern Exposure magazine, published by the nonprofit Institute for Southern Studies in Durham, N.C.

The information appeared in an article accompanying a story about poor working conditions in the poultry industry. All criminal records about the manslaughter case were expunged several years ago at the request of Perdue’s attorneys, who included now-U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), who was retained by Perdue after serving as a Philadelphia district attorney. But a Farmers Home Administration investigative report obtained by the magazine under the Freedom of Information Act says Perdue was arrested, charged with reckless homicide, and released on $500 bond. The report was prepared as part of a background check when Perdue applied for a federal loan. According to a civil suit that Perdue later settled with the widow and four children of the victim, Harold V. Smith, the accident occurred when Perdue did not heed warning signs and red lights in a highway construction zone. The suit alleges he was trying to pass a string of slow-moving cars when the road suddenly narrowed into two-way traffic. Perdue, traveling the wrong way, hit Smith’s car head-on. Smith died at the scene from massive chest injuries, and Perdue suffered a broken nose, according to sources familiar with the incident. But somewhere along the line, the criminal case was lost in the judicial bureaucracy and the state ran out of time to present it to a grand jury because Pennsylvania had enacted a new law requiring criminal trials to begin within 180 days of an arrest, the Farmers Home Administration report said. The case was dismissed, and Maryland officials never learned of the accident, which could have resulted in license revocation. Perdue also managed to avoid problems with the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles during the two-year period in the mid-1970s after the accident, when he accumulated nine points in violations. Records show, however, that after Perdue was called in for a disciplinary hearing — his third in eight years — he received three months of probation, an action akin to a warning. During this same period, a prosecutor in Worcester County withdrew a speeding ticket worth an additional two points after Perdue contested it in court. In dropping the charge, the prosecutor cited what he called Perdue’s satisfactory driving record, which contained no convictions in the six months after the alleged violation. Perdue actually had two outstanding violations, but they did not appear on his record because he had not yet paid the fines.  MORE

This article appeared on Nov. 7, 2014, announcing that “Raymond Perdue of Snow Hill has joined the staff of First Shore Federal Savings & Loan Association as the controller.

Mr. Perdue graduated from Salisbury University with a major in accounting in 2008.  He was formerly a staff accountant for PKS & Company in Salisbury and before that served an internship with Perdue Farms.

“We are most pleased to have Ray Perdue join our management team,” said Diane Turner, vice president and chief financial officer of First Shore.  “We’re confident that he’ll do an outstanding job for First Shore as we expand and continue to serve our customers on the Lower Shore of Maryland and Delaware.”

Mr. Perdue assumes the office vacated by the promotion of Sue Vincent to the chief of internal auditing and Snow Hill branch manager.

First Shore is headquartered in Salisbury and has eight branches on Delmarva.  A ninth branch, located in Millsboro, will open early in 2015.”

Too much booze for Mouth kills one passenger and injured two others in Lexus launch; got pole-in-one

TACOMA, WASH. — Washington State Patrol reports that a Lexus booze cruise piloted by Dennis S. Mouth flew off the I-5 exit to Tacoma at 12:27 am on Feb. 27, 2016, and into a utility pole, killing one passenger and injuring two others.

Dead on the scene was Elias J. Solis, 19, of Roslyn, Washington. He was wearing a seat belt and next of kin were notified by Sgt. B. Olson.

Washington State Patrol Trooper C. Seymour reports that the other two passengers, Jafar Roun, 26, of Tacoma and Vuthy J. Khim, 25, also of Tacoma, were injured and taken to Tacoma General Hospital along with the driver that police suspect was driving under the influence. DUI charges are pending, reports police.

Boozing Richland County Councilman sent two victims to trauma unit while he checked into Crossbar Hotel on felony DUI charges

From The State

Richland County Councilman Kelvin Washington has been charged with felony driving under the influence in connection with an early Saturday night crash in Lower Richland.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Washington struck a vehicle in front of him when that vehicle slowed down on Bluff Road near Martin Luther King Boulevard in Hopkins. Both vehicles were traveling east, the patrol said. The 22-year-old driver of the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, and another passenger, along with Washington, were transported with minor injuries, according to the patrol.

Washington declined to speak during a Sunday hearing at the Richland County jail, where he faced a charge of felony DUI resulting in serious injury. But he told the judge when asked that he had an attorney, though one was not with him at the hearing. The attorney’s name was not known late Sunday.

During the hearing, a trooper said both victims from the other car were still in the hospital, one in the intensive care unit with severe bleeding in the pelvic area.  …MORE
